Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech & Hearing took birth in the year 1977, as the Manasaputra, the creation of mind of our great visionary, scholar and philanthropist Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar who is today with us in spirit, to double our joy. His vision and dream to create and dedicate an Institution of the present and the future, to serve a community that was not accepted in the main stream but deserved to be brought into the main stream of society, that is, the Speech and Hearing Impaired.
Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar blessed me with the opportunity of leading the Institution when we moved from the 3rd decade to the 4th decade of the institution’s growth. I must share my strong feelings that inheriting the leadership of such a great Institution like this, from a person like Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar, poses a great challenge but, of course, provides a life time opportunity.
The foundation, the formation, the development and the consolidation in the past three decades together triggered new challenges and opportunities in the current decade which I consider, as the decade of innovation and networking. We have strengthened our systems and processes. We have created a strong network of individuals and institutions, and opened up fresh channels for mobilizing resources. We embraced every single opportunity that came our way to strengthen our Institution. We strengthened our communication, making it more effective and accessible. We launched our web site and our newsletter ISHLINK. We obtained ISO 9001: 2008 quality certifications. We have planted new dreams in people, whom we serve, with newer and greater capabilities to achieve this.
For an Institution of this kind, the heart and mind of dedicated souls- be it an individual or an institution, is of utmost importance. I would like to acknowledge the stream of benevolent individuals and institutions who have helped orchestrate the dream of our founder, Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar, over these years, including the founding trustees, benevolent donors and competent professionals who come with a sense of dedication and there are several others who support us by all means and all ways. As we move forward, let us rededicate our successes and remind ourselves of the responsibilities that we have for the society on a continuing basis.
