From the Chairman's Desk

Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech & Hearing took birth in the year 1977 as the manasaputra , the creation of mind of our great visionary, scholar and philanthropist Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar who is today with us to double our joy and the sprit. His vision and dream to create and dedicate an institution of the present and the future to service the community, a community that was not accepted in the main stream but deserved to be brought into the main stream of society, that is Speech and Hearing Impaired.

Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar blessed me with the opportunity of leading the institution when we moved from the 3rd decade to the 4th decade of the institution's growth. I must share my strong feelings that inheriting the leadership of such great institution like this from a person like Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar poses great challenge and of course provides a life time opportunity.

The foundation, the formation, the development and the consolidation in the past three decades together triggered new challenges and opportunities in current decade which I consider as the decade of innovation and net working. We strengthened our systems and processes. We created strong network of individuals and institutions, and opened up fresh channels for mobilizing resources. We embraced every single opportunity that came our way to strengthen our institution. We strengthened our communication making it more effective and accessible. We launched our web site and our news letter ISHLINK. We obtained ISO 9001: 2008 quality certifications. We have planted new dreams in our people who are coming with newer and greater capabilities to achieve this.

For an institution of this kind, the heart and mind of dedicated souls- be it an individual or an institution is of utmost importance. I would like to acknowledge the stream of benevolent individuals and institutions who have helped orchestrate the dream of founder Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar over these years including the founding trustees and benevolent donors, competent professionals who came with a sense of dedication and there were several others who supported us by all means and all ways. As we move forward, let's rededicate our successes and remind ourselves of the responsibilities that we have for the society on a continuing basis.
